Water is blue, have mainly 2 shades to it, light and dark blue, absolutely mesmerizing and the place is serene. Sometimes it also have shades of green. It has plenty of parking space and boat launch area. You can also spot people fishing. The water is crystal clear and you can view submerged or underwater plants. Its not an ordinary lake with a sandy beach. It's rocky with no sand, so do take chairs with you if you want to sit and relax. There is biking trail all along. Can also spot poison ivy in the area. All in all a beautiful location and a must visit.
It's a nice boat launch and ok campsites but there's not a lot of privacy so we felt like it's only good for a few nights. There's not a lot to do except swim, ride your bike, use the boat launch and a small playground for young kids. There is the rail trail that winds along the lake that bisects the boat launch road and it's a great way to get some exercise. Their beaches are rocky but the water makes up for it. It's not within walking distance to any amenities so you'll need to drive around 10 minutes to get anything.
Why they don't keep it open during the winter and use winter rates on the campground with no power is beyond me. Tons of open space to play, not much is a beach compared to juniper Bay/ rattlesnake point. Showers in the summer, right on the Kal Lake Rail Trail, a few tent sites. Not much privacy. Cell service is spotty. Drive In is all pavement. Lots of boat trailer parking.
We had a blast camping here a few years ago. Great bike path that used to be the railway. Nice clear, cool water. Views are great. Marmots hang around everywhere. Turkey Vultures glide overhead.
On Gorgeous Kal Lake in Vernon BC
The water as per pics attached is simply breathtaking and you'd think we were in the Caribbean..
Large boat launch with two launches and piers that are slippery.
Clean bathrooms
Lots of parking for trailers and reg cars
There's a campground which requires reservations.
Long graveled trail around the lake for walking or biking and several swimming spots.. recommend you wear water shoes as it is rocky.
Great camping in the desert. Quiet campground, respectful campers. Staff very friendly. Pet friendly. Gorgeous Kal lake!
Lots of little field mice running around in the long grass and bush areas, you rarely see them. Watch for bull and rattle snakes if going on a hike. Lots of deer around.
Playground is situated near the day use area which is a really beautiful space. Picnic area is on green grass and overlooking the lake. Playground is pretty big as well.
Boat launch area kind of sucks because it's such a busy lake. Huge parking lot but even that was packed full.
Bathrooms have flush toilets even in the outhouses. The main bathroom building has a toilet stall and a few shower stalls as well.
Nice campground, with large sites.
Great to have flush toilets and warm showers!
Close to the beach, but needed more signage (and maybe a path through the campground) to get there.
Visited the campground and stayed a couple nights. Got to enjoy the bike trail, the beach, and the park during this time. It was such a clean and wonderful experience. Will definitely come back.
